Director of Anatomy
Mike Mahon, Senior Lecturer, (HTA Designated Individual - formerly Licensed Teacher of Anatomy)

Mike qualified in anatomy at Sheffield University and spent 26 years at Manchester University teaching anatomy, histology, neuroanatomy, embryology and microscopy to medical, dental, paramedical and bioscience students before coming to Keele in 2002. Mike also helped establish the degree in Anatomical sciences and modules on morphological methods. Research interests include skeletal muscle variability, plasticity and pathology, developing methods for quantitative microscopy and morphology and computer aided learning including the WWW.

Anatomy Manager
Paul Clews (HTA Person Designated)

Paul is a qualified embalmer and has many years experience in the funeral trade. Paul has been actively involved in establishing the mortuary facilities and procedures at Keele, developing embalming and specimen preparation methods and designing equipment to provide a first class learning environment. He is currently regional recruitment officer for the IAS.

Brian Millward

Heavily involved in the day to day running of the facility and preparation for practical teaching classes including care of the specimens.

Anatomy Technician (Part Time)
Mick Proctor

Involvement in setting up, clearing away, and ensuring the smooth running of the numerous practical classes in the facility. Also maintaining the specimens so that they can be used over a long period of time.

Administration & Bequeathals
Fliss Dunn (HTA Person Designated)

Fliss is first point of contact for the many enquiries we have of potential donors, teachers and course organisers. Fliss also provides liaison with other anatomy units in the UK and the office of the Human Tissue Authority.

Hayley Derricott (HTA Person Designated -formerly Licensed Teacher of Anatomy)

Following her degree in Anatomical Sciences at Manchester University and laboratory experience at AstraZeneca, Hayley became part of our foundation team at Keele in 2003. She has been heavily involved in creating learning resources, preparing prosections, lecturing, demonstrating and examining anatomy to a wide variety of students as well as organising classes and training instructors.

Anatomy Teaching Fellow
Joanna Allardyce 

Joanna trained in Anatomy and Human Biology at Liverpool where she recently completed her PhD on the development of the enteric autonomic nervous system and demonstrated anatomy classes. She is involved in all aspects of teaching and teaching support to medical, health professional and bioscience students.

Histopathology Teaching in the Medical School Campus site is augmented via the valuable contributions from UHNS Pathologists Dr Mark Stephens, Dr Sarah Hauxwell, Dr Daniel Gey van Pittius, Dr Cordelia Phelan, and Dr Nikki Kuiper, whilst Dr Stanislaw Glazewski (Life Sciences), Dr Rosemary Fricker (Life Sciences) contribute to Neuroanatomy classes.
